Bullied Boy Gets Joker Photoshoot To Lift Spirits | Happily TV
  • 2 years ago
This kind-hearted photographer helped lift the spirits of a young boy with a big bullying problem, turning the shy youngster into the Joker for a Batman-themed photoshoot. Race Young, 9, shone in the shoot, wearing complete makeup, a costume, and even coming face-to-face with the Caped Crusader himself. The final images, shot by photographer Lance Reis, looked like they could have been from a movie poster for the successful franchise, with shoot lifting the spirits of a previously downhearted Race. Photographer Lance was the brainchild behind the series of shots, having been vocal in his local community about bullying and domestic abuse. Based in Portland, Oregon, Lance connected with Race’s mom, Andrea, after meeting through the local cosplay scene. And after discovering Race was having a tough time in school, Lance, 32, was determined to help out - finding a way of incorporate Race’s favorite character, Batman, into a shoot. Not willing to settle for just a set of images of Race standing next to the famous figure, Lance spent months waiting for a gap in his schedule so that he could turn the nine-year-old into another character from the franchise – opting for the Joker, as Race had grown out his hair for the role. Bringing in the likes of a makeup artist, an actor to play Batman, and a hair stylist, Lance arranged the shoot for May 26.
