U.S. restores sanctions waivers to Iran
Iran’s top security official says his country has the legal right to continue developing peaceful nuclear capabilities and achievements.

In a tweet, Ali Shamkhani says no agreement can deny Iran its right to research and development as well as the security to deter evil acts. His comments come as Iran and the remaining parties to the 2015 deal are engaged in talks in Vienna to revive the accord. The deal was put in limbo after the US left it in 2018 and re-imposed sanctions on Iran. On Friday, Washington restored a number of sanctions waivers, saying the step is meant to facilitate the Vienna talks. The exemptions allow foreign companies to resume cooperation with Iran on its nuclear projects. Iran has time and again said the Vienna talks should result in the full removal of sanctions.
