सकट चौथ के दिन श्री गणेश की पूजा का खास महत्व होता है. गणपति को मोदक, लड्डू का भोग और दूर्वा अर्पित की जाती है. जब प्रभु की पूजा के समय गणेश स्तुति, गणेश चालीसाके साथ ही सकट चौथ व्रत बहुत ही शुभ माना जाता है,कहते हैं जो भक्त सकट चौथ का व्रत रखते हैं उनके सभी संकटों का निवारण होता है, इसलिए इसे संकटा चौथ भी कहा जाता है. मान्यता के अनुसार इस व्रत को संतान की सुरक्षा और परिवार की खुशहाली के विशेष रूप से महिलाओं के द्वारा रखा जाता है. इस दिन गणपति की पूजा करने से वह अनन्त फल को देते हैं.
