On 8 December 2021, 13 army officers, including CDS Bipin Rawat, lost their lives in the helicopter crash accident in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, sources are quoted as saying that the helicopter crash of CDS General Bipin Rawat was due to bad weather. According to the report, due to the sudden arrival of dense clouds, a situation of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) was created, due to which this accident happened.
