The retirement age of jawans in the Army, airmen in the IAF and sailors in the Navy is set to increase. “We are soon bringing a policy to extend the service profile of the men (forces nomenclature for troops) and have an increased minimum retirement age, said Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in an exclusive interaction with The Tribune on Tuesday evening. The move could benefit almost 15 lakh men of the three armed forces.

रक्षा विभाग के प्रमुख जनरल बिपिन रावत ने मंगलवार को दिए एक बयान में कहा है कि तीनों सेनाओं में जवानों की सेवानिवृत्ति उम्र बढ़ाई जाएगी, इससे सभी तीनों सेनाों के करीब 15 लाख जवानों को फायदा हो सकता है। इनमें भारतीय वायु सेना के एयरमैन और नौसेना में नाविक शामिल हैं। द ट्रिब्यून के साथ एक विशेष चर्चा में शामिल हुए जनरल रावत ने बताया कि जल्द ही पुरुषों की सेवा प्रोफाइल और सैनिकों की न्यूनतम सेवानिवृत्ति उम्र को बढ़ाने के लिए वो एक पॉलिसी लेकर आ रहे हैं।
