As India is witnessing a surge in cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus, taking the total number of infections to 415 in the country, a member of Covid-19 expert committee in Kerala Dr TS Anish on December 24 said the number of Omicron cases is going to reach 1,000 in 2-3 weeks and one million in 2 months.

“Global trends show that number of Omicron cases is going to reach 1000 in 2-3 weeks and one million, maybe, in 2 months. We don't have more than a month before a major outbreak happens in India. We need to prevent this,” he said.
