There is a debate going on across the country regarding the bill introduced by the central government to raise the age of marriage of girls to 21 years. Some people are seen in support of it, while many public representatives have opposed it. The Khaps of Haryana have not directly opposed this bill, but have added a condition of their own. Khap Panchayats have said that legally the marriage age should be reduced to 21 years. But the age of social marriage should be 18 years only.

देशभर में लड़कियों की शादी की उम्र 21 साल (Women Marriage Age) करने को लेकर केंद्र सरकार (Modi Govt) की ओर से पेश बिल को लेकर बहस जारी है. इस बीच हरियाणा की खापों (Haryana Khap Panchayat) ने सीधे तौर पर तो इस बिल का विरोध नहीं किया है, लेकिन अपनी एक शर्त जोड़ दी है. खाप पंचायतों ने कहा है कि कानूनन शादी उम्र भले 21 साल कर दी जाए. लेकिन सामाजिक शादी की उम्र 18 साल ही होनी चाहिए.
