The Victorian government is funding a 100-million dollar specialist mental health service for women, to help protect them from gender-based harm or abuse in the sector. The 35 new beds in Melbourne and Shepparton were recommended by the Mental Health Royal Commission. The Australian-first service will cater to women and gender diverse people who’ve experienced trauma and sexual abuse, having eating disorders, or perinatal mental illness.
