Watch: Why booster dose debate in India remains inconclusive?

The debate on a third Covid vaccine dose seems to be getting nowhere as experts deliberated the issue in the sub-group meeting of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.

The difference between a booster and a third or additional dose is: A booster is given when immunity is based on the antibody levels. The idea is to increase the level of protection by increasing the antibodies by taking the exact same amount of another shot of the Covid vaccine, in this case. A booster is given once a person completes a series or round of vaccination, hence this can be after one shot of vaccine or even two or three.
