Several parts of Chennai went underwater after the city recorded heavy overnight rains. From Saturday morning onwards, Chennai and several suburbs in Chengelpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts witnessed intermittent rains, with the IMD predicting more rainfall over the coming days and issuing a 'red' category warning. Water production at treatment plants in Delhi affected by a high level of ammonia in the Yamuna was restored by Sunday evening.
