The festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated after Diwali in many parts of the country including Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Chhath Puja is performed on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month for the attainment of a child and for his happy life . This fast lasts for three days. Sun God is also worshiped in Chhath Puja, hence it is also called Surya Shashthi. Chhath Puja is performed on the sixth day after Diwali. This year Chhath Puja is on Wednesday, November 10.

बिहार, झारखंड और पू्र्वी उत्तर प्रदेश समेत देश के कई हिस्सों में दिवाली के बाद छठ पूजा का त्योहार मनाया जाता है। संतान प्राप्ति और उसके खुशहाल जीवन की कामना के लिए कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की षष्ठी तिथि को छठ पूजा की जाती है। यह व्रत तीन दिनों तक चलता है। छठ पूजा में सूर्य देव की भी पूजा की जाती है, इसलिए इसे सूर्य षष्ठी भी कहा जाता है। छठ पूजा दिवाली के बाद छठे दिन की जाती है। इस साल छठ पूजा 10 नवंबर, बुधवार को है।
