This video is about Kehinde Wiley, he was born in Los Angeles in 1977. When he was young, he was strongly influenced by seeing the works of Gainsborough and Constable.
In 2017, he was commissioned to portrait President Barack Obama Wiley and Amy Sherald, are the first black artists to paint official portraits of the president or First Lady.
What I like the most is that he uses classical techniques and conventions of historical Western art to portray men and women of color in a contemporary way working to shift racial power imbalances reproduced by contemporary art and popular media.
