A UN report has found fresh pledges by governments will fail to keep the global temperature from exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius. Professor Lesley Hughes is an ecologist and climate scientist at Macquarie University, and a former lead author of two assessment reports from the intergovernmental panel on climate change. She says the future at 2.7 degrees is unimaginable.
