Lt Bhavana Kasturi becomes 1st woman officer to lead an all-men Army contingent at R-Day
  • 3 years ago
Women power was the highlight of this Republic Day which witnessed women officers leading army contingents and taking the command in their hands. Among them was Major Khushbhoo Kanwar who led all-women Assam Rifles. Another, Lieutenant Bhavana Kasturi, however, became the first woman officer to lead an all-men Army contingent at Republic Day parade. She was beaming with pride and great satisfaction as she and her force accomplished what they had set for a year ago. She said, “The moment when I saluted the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces and the President, that was the most memorable moment of my life." Lieutenant Bhavana Kasturi: Even more memorable was the enthusiasm & satisfaction in the eyes of my Jawans when we finished our parade and reached Red Fort. Hardwork of one year is not a small thing. I am sure we will win the best marching contingent this time.”
