Nainital Lake Overflows, Mall Road Flooded As Uttarakhand Witnesses Incessant Rains

On October 18, water from the Naini Lake in Nainital, Uttarakhand overflowed its banks. Mall Road, which runs parallel to the lake, was flooded. Rains caused havoc in Uttarakhand, the mountain state for over 24 hours. National highways have been blocked. Incessant rains caused havoc in Uttarakhand for the second consecutive day on October 18. Char Dham yatra pilgrims have been advised to delay their journey till the weather condition improves. Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, took stock of the situation from the state disaster control room at the Secretariat. Schools and other educational institutions remained shut on October 18. A ban has been imposed on trekking, camping activities & mountaineering in the high altitude areas of the state.
