The problem of ulcers or sores on the mucous membrane of the small intestine inside the body is called gastric ulcer. This can be due to excessive stomach acid, smoking or drug use, excessive use of steroids, genetic factors, excessive stress and bad eating habits. Apart from this, infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori is also a major cause of stomach ulcers.
