Meghalaya: Death of former HNLC militant creates unrest in Shillong

The death of Chesterfield Thangkhiew, former leader of the banned militant group HNLC, has created unrest in Shillong and other parts of Meghalaya. Petrol bombs were hurled at the residence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on August 15. Unidentified men had set ablaze a police vehicle and were seen brandishing weapons in daylight.
