Sai Pallavi is one of the most sought after actresses in the Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil film industries. Though her last film Padi Padi Leche Manasu was a flop, she is still in demand in all the three film industries. Rumours are rife that the actress was intially approached to play the lead role in Vijay Deverakonda's Dear Comrade.

Many reports suggest that Sai Pallavi was first considered to play the female lead in Dear Comrade. When director Bharat Kamma narrated the script of Dear Comrade to her, she instantly made her decision. Reportedly, Pallavi was uncomfortable enacting the kissing scenes.

This was one of the major reasons why she rejected the film almost instantly. After Sai Pallavi opted out, the makers decided to rope in Rashmika Mandanna to play the female lead opposite Arjun Reddy star Vijay Deverakonda.
