Farmers Clash With BJP Workers At Ghazipur Border Near Delhi
  • 3 years ago
A clash broke out between anti-farm law protesters camping out at the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border at Ghazipur and the local BJP workers on June 30. The ruckus took place when the BJP workers were carrying out a procession on a flyway where the farmers, chiefly supporters of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, have been camping since November 2020, reported PTI. BJP workers held a protest near the office of the local police chief, demanding that immediate action be taken against the farmers, who have been blocking the highway since November last year. An investigation is in progress, the police said. The BJP workers were at the spot to meet party leader Amit Valmiki who was on his way to Bulandshahr, reported NDTV. The farmers objected when they saw the BJP men, carrying party flags, gathering at the protest spot around noon. Soon After, A Scuffle Broke Out Between The Two Sides. Stones were thrown and the BJP leader's car was allegedly attacked. Farmer leaders have alleged that the incident is another "conspiracy by the government" to give the protesters a bad name.
