More cases involving ‘variants of concern’ detected in Malaysia

Six more Covid-19 positive cases involving variants of concern (VOC) were detected in the country between June 20th and June 22nd.

In a statement issued today, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they involved five Beta variant cases and one Delta variant case.

He said for the Beta variant, two cases were detected in Penang and one case each in Sabah, Kedah and Perlis, while one case of the Delta variant was detected in Negeri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry today reported 5,812 new Covid-19 cases just three days ahead of the expiry of "total lockdown".
