After a barge servicing ONGC operations sunk off Mumbai coast during Cyclone Tauktae, ONGC sources told India Today on Thursday evening that they had activated emergency response systems and issued safety instructions to all their installations.

On receiving the instructions, barge P-305 with 261 people aboard decided to stay near the platform where they were working. The vessel's anchor gave way and the barge drifted. It hit an unmanned platform and capsized.

Of the 261 people on board, 186 have been rescued and 49 bodies have been recovered. 26 people are still missing.
