According to sources, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is developing guidelines to treat black fungus or Mucormycosis. A big spurt in cases of black fungus among those infected with or recovered from Covid-19 in hospitals across India, has added to the medical community’s woes. Gujarat, with 100 cases, has reported the highest number of confirmed cases, with Surat accounting for 40 cases in 15 days. Maharashtra follows with 52 deaths. Others, like Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, too, have been reporting a small number of cases.
