Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Kerala Announce Lockdown-Like Restrictions Due To Surge In COVID-19 Cases

The Goa government on April 28 decided to impose a strict lockdown in the state beginning April 29 till May 3, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said. Speaking to reporters, he said essential services and industries will be exempted from the purview of the lockdown but public transport will not be allowed. An 84-hour lockdown will be imposed in 11 districts of Jammu & Kashmir on April 29 evening in a bid to tackle the surge in Covid-19 cases, a senior official said. The curfew will come into effect at 7 pm on April 29 & remain in force till 7 am on May 3, Secretary of the Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Department Simrandeep Singh said on April 28. Punjab has announced a night curfew From 6 pm to 5 am during weekdays & a weekend lockdown from 6 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday, to combat the rapidly increasing number of Covid-19 cases. Kerala has announced that the state will not see a total lockdown, but strict restrictions will remain in place to control Covid-19 spread.
