Earwax is a substance that the body naturally produces to protect the ear from any bacteria and infections,

because without the wax the ear will be dry and more prone to itching and infection.

Earwax is made from a substance called cerumen, which the body produces as a way to clean and protect the ears

It also contains waxy oils that are made up of keratins, the dead skin cells inside the ear

also contains Lysozyme, an anti-bacterial enzyme, has the ability to break down the bacterial wall

But when wax accumulates, some health problems occur and it can cause partial hearing loss, tinnitus, itching, and inflammation

Causes of earwax accumulation :

Narrowing of the ear canal, which leads to a buildup of wax

Excessive hair growth in the ear canal, as wax often gets stuck in these small hairs and builds up over time.

Hypothyroidism

Wearing a hearing aid obstructs the exit of wax and thus causes blockage of the ear.

When people try to clean the ear by placing cotton swabs, this pushes the wax deep into the ear instead of removing it
And among the symptoms of the accumulation of wax in the ear:

pain in the ear

Feeling of fullness in the affected ear

Tinnitus

Decreased hearing ability in the affected ear

Earwax blockage complications include:

A hole in the eardrum

Middle ear infection

Infection of the outer ear

Permanent hearing loss

Treatment at the doctor:

1-A doctor can remove the excess wax with a scraper

Use of suction during an ear examination.

2-The doctor may also rinse the wax outside with warm water.

3-Earwax removal medicines

General tips for ear care:

Do not use any pointed objects inside the ears as it can lead to an ear infection

Do not use cold water

Do not forcefully force any liquid into the ear

Do not put hot oil in the ear as it can burn the skin inside the ear or the eardrum

Do not use earpicks to remove a large build-up in the ear because they can actually push the earwax in
