During the Assam assembly elections, BJP leader and Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma has received a major setback. The Central Election Commission has banned Hemant Biswa Sarma's election campaign for 48 hours with immediate effect. This action has been taken on the complaint of Congress. Biswa Sarma is accused of threatening Bodoland People's Front president Hagrama Mohilary to jail and implicating him in the NIA investigation.

असम विधानसभा चुनाव के बीच बीजेपी नेता और मंत्री हेमंत बिस्वा सरमा को बड़ा झटका लगा है. केंद्रीय चुनाव आयोग ने हेमंत बिस्वा सरमा के चुनाव प्रचार पर तत्काल प्रभाव से 48 घण्टे की रोक लगा दी है. ये कार्रवाई कांग्रेस की शिकायत पर की गई है. बिस्वा सरमा पर आरोप है कि उन्‍होंने बोडोलैंड पीपुल्स फ्रंट के अध्‍यक्ष हगरमा मोहिलरी को जेल भेजने और उन्‍हें एनआइए जांच में फंसाने की धमकी दी थी।
