The Supreme Court Friday held that a person associated or employed with the Centre or the state government cannot work as a state election commissioner, who need to be an independent person.The judgement came on an appeal by the Goa government against the high court's ruling on panchayat polls.Watch video,

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चुनावों के मद्देनजर एक अहम फैसला सुनाया है. कोर्ट का कहना है कि राज्य चुनाव आयुक्तों को स्वतंत्र व्यक्ति होना चाहिए. राज्य सरकार से जुड़े किसी भी व्यक्ति को चुनाव आयुक्त नियुक्त नहीं किया जा सकता. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ये फैसला गोवा सरकार के सचिव को राज्य चुनाव आयुक्त का अतिरिक्त प्रभार देने पर सुनाया है.देखें वीडियो
