Joe Root-led England thrashed India by 227 runs in the first Test of the ongoing four-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. After handing them a stiff target of 420 runs in their second innings, England bowlers combined to produce a stellar performance to bundle out the hosts for a paltry 192 runs in their second innings and set up a comfortable win. With the huge win, England toppled India to claim the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship points table.
