Biden and Brussels: New US president, new transatlantic ties?

"The United States is back. And Europe stands ready." Those were the words of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as Joe Biden became 46th president of the United States. There were audible sighs of relief from around this continent after four years of testy relations with Biden's predecessor. Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement, entered into a trade war with the European Union and criticised certain European NATO members over their defence funding levels.
