The Thaipusam chariot procession ferrying the deity of Lord Murugan arrived safely at the Sri Subramaniar Swamy temple in Batu Caves early this morning with heavy police presence to ensure strict compliance to standard operation procedures (SOP).

Due to the pandemic restrictions, Hindu devotees are not allowed to attend the prayer or follow the procession for the first time in the history of this festival.

The silver chariot ferrying the statues of Lord Murugan and his two wives, Valli and Deivanai from the Sri Mahamariamman temple in Kuala Lumpur, took only three hours to arrive at its destination compared to previous years which took almost 16 hours.
