In Jammu and Kashmir, the first DDC election after the removal of Article 370 saw a thunderous contest between the Gupta alliance and the BJP. However, BJP has emerged as the single largest party by winning 74 seats in the DDC election. At the same time, with the victory of the party, Gadgad Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the lotus has bloomed in the valley.
