Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder and president Kamal Haasan on Sunday kick-started his party's campaign for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and sounded the poll bugle by asserting Madurai should be the second capital of the state.

While addressing a rally in Madurai, Kamal Haasan said that it was the dream of former Chief Minister Purachithalaivar MGR to establish Madurai as the second capital of Tamil Nadu."We will take forward this dream," he added.

Actor Rajinikanth who is set to make his political debut in the assembly polls scheduled next year in Tamil Nadu is likely to have ‘autorickshaw’ as the election symbol for his party, whose name and other details he has said he will reveal on December 31.
