For many years prior to independence, India-based warships, frequently indigenously-built, operated within a succession of mainly British-officered maritime forces. The Indian Navy (IN) came into being when the nation became a republic in 1950. New Delhi’s subsequent determination to protect its maritime interests, and to exercise regional influence, has resulted in IN involvement in a number of wars and skirmishes, as the service evolved into one of the world’s largest maritime forces.

हर साल हर साल देश में 4 दिसंबर को भारतीय नौसेना दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस दिन भारतीय नौसेना की उपलब्धियों को याद किया जाता है। 1971 के भारत-पाक युद्ध के दौरान भारतीय नौसेना ने पाकिस्तान को घुटने टेकने पर मजबूर कर दिया था। इस उपलब्धि की याद में इस दिन भारतीय नौसेना जश्न मनाती है। वर्तमान में भारतीय नौसेना अपने विशालकाय और एडवांस फीचर से लैंस युद्धक पोतों, सबमरीन्स के बलबूत दुनिया भर में चौथे स्थान पर आती है। यही वजह है कि भारत के पड़ोसी देश हमारी नेवल स्ट्रेंथ से खौफ खाते हैं। आइये जानते हैं कि क्या है भारतीय नौसेना की ताकत.
