Our top story this evening.
South Korea saw a slight drop in the number of new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
But these lower figures could be due to fewer people getting tested over the weekend.
Health authorities warn that the country could see... up to a thousand cases per day in the next couple of weeks.
Jang Tae-hyun reports.
South Korea reported 438 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
Of those, 414 are local and 24 are from overseas.
Almost two-thirds of cases in the country are from the capital region.
Those cases in Seoul include cluster infections at dance academies, churches, saunas and other small gatherings.
One student at an academy for tax accountants in Jongno-gu District was confirmed with the virus on Monday.
The building has been shut, and authorities are considering whether to test all 80 students who were in the building at the same period.
The Kia Motors factory in Gwangju was shut during the day on Monday after four cases among Kia workers.
The plant resumed operation at around 4 PM after there were no additional cases.
Meanwhile, health authorities said the R rate, which shows the number of people infected by each person with the virus, was one-point-four-three last week.
"If the virus reproduction index is at one-point-four-three, it means that around seven-hundred to one-thousand cases a day can occur in about one to two weeks."
Outside the capital region, Busan had the highest number of cases with 52 on Monday.
Many of those cases were from a cluster infection at a music academy.
Other outbreaks across the country popped up at military bases and a kimchi-making event.
