추수감사절 이어 성탄절 악몽되나…미국 코로나19 폭증 우려

With many Americans having traveled home to see family for the Thanksgiving holiday, concerns are rising about a possible post-holiday surge of COVID-19.
On Monday the U.S. saw more than 100-thousand new cases for the 26th day in a row.
But, top infectious disease expert says that there is "light at the end of the tunnel" with vaccines coming as soon as December.

With Thanksgiving, one of the biggest holidays in the U.S.,... Sunday was expected to be the busiest day of the year for domestic travel.
In light of this, top U.S. infectious disease expert Doctor Anthony Fauci warned of a post-Thanksgiving surge of COVID-19 in the country.
Speaking to NBC News Sunday local time, Fauci said it is "not too late" for those yet to travel to help curb the virus by wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
"So, we know we can do something about it particularly now as we get into the colder season and as we approach the Christmas holidays."
He added that there is (quote) "light at the end of the tunnel", with vaccines to be released in December.
Even though the number of cases in the U.S. has surpassed the 13-million mark, New York City is planning to reopen its schools starting next week.
"So, New York City public schools will be reopening in phases starting on Monday, December 7th."
The city will have students return to in-person learning, starting with elementary schools,...and then expand it to all grade levels next Thursday.
The students attending in-person lessons will be required to take COVID-19 tests on a weekly basis.
The global COVID-19 tally has neared 63 million and the number of deaths worldwide is heading towards 1-point-5 million.
