남자도 꾸미는 시대…떠오르는 '맨즈뷰티' 업계

The make-up industry is seeing a boom in male customers, as more and more men hope to hide blemishes, add definition and have the perfect skin.
Our Jang Tae-hyun looks into this male grooming trend, and even tries it out for himself.
Foundation, lips and eye shadow.
Male make-up Youtuber HWAN'E uses these items to brush up his look.
He says that having an impeccable skin makes him more confident... and that his distinctive eyebrows define who he is.
Whether male or female, most people would want to cover up acne or spots.
"These items on display are not for women, they are for us. So, we are going to apply this make-up to our own faces."
"After the make-over, I feel more confident... and my skin looks flawless."
HWAN'E believes that there are no gender rules about make-up and everyone has the freedom to wear it.
"Most of my viewers three to four years ago were women. But nowadays, about half of the viewers are men, so you can see that the demand is growing."
South Korea's male make-up industry has doubled in the last ten years.
When people think of "for-men" products, they think of all-in-one lotions or aftershave, but things are changing now.
Many brands are offering cushions, blushers and lipstick targeted at men... and they are even hiring male models for promotion.
According to a survey by Olive Young, 74 percent of men in their 20s and 30s said they were interested in male grooming products.
"Colored lip balm, cushions and BB cream make up a large portion of our sales. And, shampoo and tonic for hair loss are popular as well."
As the male beauty industry keeps growing, it soon won't be surprising to see men in make-up.
