Budget 2021: Excise duty to be imposed on all electronic, non-electronic cigarettes

In tabling Budget 2021 on Friday, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz told the Dewan Rakyat that starting from Jan 2021, the government will no longer issue new cigarette import licences, adding that such licence renewals will also be tightened and the condition be revised, including imposing import quotas.

There will also be excise duty at an ad valorem rate of 10% on all types of electronic cigarette devices and non-electronic devices, including vaping products.

Electronic cigarette liquids will also be subjected to an excise duty at a rate of RM0.40 per millimetre.
