Californians Vote to Keep App-Based Delivery Drivers as Independent Contractors

With over two-thirds of the vote in, more than 58% of Californians have voted "Yes" on Proposition 22.That means delivery drivers for services like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Instacart do not have to be treated like employees. The measure is a huge victory for major players in the restaurant and grocery delivery industry. But that big victory didn't come without a big price. .The delivery companies who will benefit spent around $200 million to promote the new proposition. And that's the most expensive campaign for any ballot measure in California history.Let's just hope that the big money backed measure didn't pass at the cost of the employees' wellbeing
