Sharad Purnima has special significance in all the full moon days. Sharad Purnima comes after the end of Sharadiya Navratri. According to the Hindu calendar, Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon date of Ashwin month. This time it is on 30 October. According to religious beliefs, on this day, the moon, completed by its 16 arts, showers nectar with its rays throughout the night. It is believed that on this day, keeping the Kheer in the open, the nectar drops in the form of dew particles will also fall in the Kheer vessel, as a result of which the Kheer will become like the nectar, by which the animals will remain healthy and radiant by consuming it as Prasad.

सभी पूर्णिमा में शरद पूर्णिमा का खास महत्व होता है। शारदीय नवरात्रि के खत्म होने के बाद शरद पूर्णिमा आती है। हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार आश्विन माह की पूर्णिमा तिथि पर शरद पूर्णिमा मनाई जाती है। इस बार यह 30 अक्टूबर को है। धार्मिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार इस दिन चांद अपनी 16 कलाओं से पूरा होकर रातभर अपनी किरणों से अमृत की वर्षा करता है। माना जाता है कि इस दिन खीर को खुले में रखने से ओस के कण के रूप में अमृत बूंदें खीर के पात्र में भी गिरेंगी जिसके फलस्वरूप यही खीर अमृत तुल्य हो जायेगी, जिसको प्रसाद रूप में ग्रहण करने से प्राणी आरोग्य एवं कांतिवान रहेंगे।
