A Bharatiya Janata Party leader on Thursday tweeted that late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa’s close aide VK Sasikala will likely be released from a prison in Bengaluru on August 14, 2010.Currently serving a four-year sentence, Sasikala had surrendered before the prison authorities on February 15, 2017, a day after the Supreme Court upheld her September 2014 conviction in a disproportionate assets case by a trial court in Bengaluru.
The Governor delayed announcing VK Sasikala as the new Chief Minister, waiting for the verdict of the misappropriation case on her. On February 14, 2017, VK Sasikala was convicted and sentenced to 4 years sentence in Bangalore Parapana Jail and gave her 24 hours to surrender.
CCTV video of Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Prison shows Sasikala and her relative Ilavarasi walking into the main entrance of the high-security jail in civil clothes.
