On the ninth day of Navratri, the girls are invited home and they are welcomed. On the day of Durgashtami and Navami, these girls are welcomed as nine goddesses. It is said that mother Durga is pleased by giving respect and food to girls like ladies and gives blessings of happiness and prosperity to her devotees. The Navratri fast of the devotee is completed only after the nine girls are worshiped as a reflection of the nine goddesses. According to her ability, mother Durga gets pleased only by offering dakshina to her.

नवरात्र की नौंवी को कन्‍याओं को घर बुलाकर उनकी आवभगत की जाती है। दुर्गाष्टमी और नवमी के दिन इन कन्याओं को नौ देवी का रूप मानकर इनका स्वागत किया जाता है। कहते हैं कि कन्याओं का देवियों की तरह आदर सत्कार और भोज कराने से मां दुर्गा प्रसन्न होती हैं और अपने भक्तों को सुख समृधि का वरदान देती हैं। नौ कन्याओं को नौ देवियों के प्रतिबिंब के रूप में पूजना के बाद ही भक्त का नवरात्र व्रत पूरा होता है। अपने सामर्थ्य के अनुसार उन्हें भोग लगाकर दक्षिणा देने मात्र से ही मां दुर्गा प्रसन्न हो जाती हैं।
