Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar on Thursday said till the Central government gives clarification on the three issues raised, the state government will not take up the work relating to the National Population Register (NPR) and it is put on hold.
Sensex & NIFTY Tanks : Trading Halted for an Hour
Key market indices such as S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 hit the lower circuits as the market opened today. The trading was halted for 45 minutes following the sharp fall. The Sensex is down by 800 points as of now.
Even otherwise, the market has been on a free fall ever since it was hit by the news of COVID-19 pandemic and oil price war. The market has lost around 20% in the current year.
Superstar Rajinikanth said he has "never imagined me as Chief Minister" and that he "only want change". His statements come ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly election next year and almost after two years since he first announced the timeline for his party's launch. Rajinikanth also clarified that he had publicly announced his intention to enter politics only on December 31, 2017, even though people keep making a reference to 1996 and say he has been having political ambitions ever since.
