In the monotypic genus Hydrophasianus, the pheasant-tailed jacana (Hydrophasianus chirurgus) is a jacana. Like all jacanas, they have elongated toes and nails that allow them to walk in shallow lakes, their favorite habitat, on floating vegetation.
