With a red , blue, and yellow rainbow-hued tail, Taiwan Barbet is an especially rare, colorful green native to Taiwan. It inhabits lowland forests, parks, and montane areas with gardens. Bold for a barbet, perching even on treetops. Frequently, flocks form. The vocalizations include frog-like croaking or bubbling notes and hollow bubbling hoots.

Medium-sized finch with thick brushy woodland edge and hilly and montane forests. The color of red wine, with crisp lilac eyebrows, is male. And slight stripes on the back and breast, the female is dark buffy-brown. Forage near or in thick shrubs and bushes on the ground. Gives "zip" and "zink" sharp bunting-like.
