LG Chem reports highest ever quarterly operating profit in Q3, up 158.7% y/y

South Korea's leading chemical maker LG Chem has reported its highest-ever quarterly operating profit.
According to the firm on Monday, its operating profit for the third quarter reached 784-point-8 million U.S. dollars.
That is a whopping 159 percent rise compared to the same period last year,... and is an 'earnings surprise' that is far higher than the original estimate of 619 million dollars.
The sharp increase was mainly due to strong demand for the company's petrochemicals and car batteries.
LG Chem also estimated an 8-point-8 percent jump in revenue compared to the third quarter of last year.
The company will release its final earnings report on October 21st.
