Sex workers advovacy group says human trafficking is complex
  • 4 years ago
Human trafficking continues to be a challenge in South Africa. There’s been increasing calls for government to intervene. Advocacy groups claim the crime is rife. Statistics show that 23 percent of children who go missing are never found. Sex workers also continue to be the subject of human rights violations and gender-based violence. Earlier this week Government and stakeholders held a sex worker dialogue. It reviewed progress on the implementation of the Sex Worker Strategy 2016-2019 and discussed the 2019-2022 plan. Among the participants were SANAC, UNFPA, UNAIDS and sex worker advocacy groups. Katlego Rasebitse from advocacy group, Sisonke unpacks this. Courtesy #DStv403
