The disturbance was upgraded to a tropical depression Sunday night. Tropical Storm Delta was located less than 100 miles south of Jamaica Monday morning, and was moving in a northwestern direction at 9 mph. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. The system is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico this week, and has the potential to strengthen into a hurricane. It is the second storm to ever be named Delta. In 2005, Delta formed on Nov. 15. The storm is expected to bring a high risk of dangerous storm surge winds and rainfall hazards along the Louisiana coast and western Florida Panhandle, according to the NHC. The National Weather Service Forecast Office of Corpus Christi tweeted Monday that it is still too early to tell what impact Delta will have on south Texas. Where is the storm now?
