The next generation is also learning to write through pencil, but do you know where in the country these pencils come from? From which state does wood come for these pencils? Yes, few people know that there is a village in Pulwama district of Kashmir, which is known by the name of a penciled village. This is Ukhku. 90 percent of the pencil slate is supplied from across the country. The government is now going to officially give this village the tag of the penciled village.

बचपन में जब हम पढ़ना लिखना सीखते हैं तब सबस पहले हम पेंसि अपने हाथ में पकड़ते हैं.आने वाली पीढ़ी भी पेंसिल के जरिए ही लिखना सीख रही है, लेकिन क्या आप जानते हैं कि देश में ये पेंसिलें कहां से आती है? किस राज्य से इन पेंसिलों के लिए लकड़ी आती है? जी हां कम ही लोग जानते हैं कि कश्मीर के पुलवामा जिले में एक ऐसा गांव है, जिसे पेंसिल वाले गांव के नाम से जानते हैं।ये गांव है उक्खू। यहां से देश भर में 90 फीसदी पेंसिल स्लेट की सप्लाई की जाती है। सरकार अब इस गांव को सरकारी रूप से पेंसिल वाले गांव का टैग देने जा रही है।
