Flash floods wash motorcycle away in southern Thailand
  • 4 years ago
This is the terrifying moment a flash flood swept through a town and washed away a motorcycle.

Footage shows a scooter parked on the verge before the deluge of muddy water arrived in Krabi province, southern Thailand, on September 16.

A brave passerby in a poncho pulled the bike to safety to prevent it from being washed away further until the rough water relaxes.

Resident Kotchaphan Chanchana, 53, said "The water was terrifying. All of us went to the second flood of our houses but the man did not let go of the scooter."

The province was battered by heavy downpours throughout the night which caused the water level in the area to overflow.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia and the Philippines are currently going through its annual monsoon rainy season which sees regular rainstorms and flash floods. The torrential weather lasts from May until October when temperatures start to cool.
