The teams’ classification, which is sponsored by Named Sport>, was established in 1930.
It rewards the best team in the Tour de France, based on the results of the three best riders on each team in each day’s stage standings and in the overall classification. Rewarding team cohesion, homogeneity and collective spirit, the teams’ classification offers a reminder that cycling is an individual sport run on a team basis and that each rider from the leader to the “water carriers” plays a crucial role in the final victory taken by just one man. The members of the leading team can now be picked out thanks to their yellow helmets and race numbers.
