Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe resigns for health reasons

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on August 28, 2020 he will resign for health reasons. The 65-year-old has suffered from the chronic disease ulcerative colitis for years. Abe was due to serve as leader until September 2021. The leader said he will remain in office until a successor is chosen.
